ABOUT THE OUTFITTER
Having an interest in hunting since early childhood, Scott Gesell found the opportunity to become an outfitter in Colorado and has been offering guided elk hunts and mule deer hunts since 2004. His enjoyment of horses and elk hunting came together and spending months in the mountains on horseback packing and setting Colorado elk hunting camps allows for the knowledge of the animals they hunt.
HUNTING (ELK AND MULE DEER)
We offer quality full service Colorado guided hunts or equipped drop camps for archery, muzzleloader and rifle seasons on public land in the Routt National Forest. We hunt elk the month of September for archery and muzzleloader while the bulls are in rut. Our archery guided elk hunts are on horseback with our guides doing the calling to try and bring a bull within range for our hunters to get a shot. Mid-October through mid-November we are rifle hunting. Our guided rifle elk hunts are also done on horseback to and from the areas we hunt everyday. Fully equipped drop camps are also available. Mule deer hunts are the third week in October through the second week in November and the set up is the same as with elk hunts.

Our camps consist of several wall-type tents. In summer camps and fall-guided camps, there is a large cook/mess tent and several sleeping tents which will accommodate 2 – 6 people. Army cots and foam pads are provided.
We do not provide sleeping bags. Your bags should be warm enough for quite cool summer nights of 30′ to 50′ or the cold nights of fall from -20′ to 30′. Toilet facilities are provided. In hunting camps, each tent has its own heat stove (wood or propane). Fall archery drop camps have a cook/ mess tent and 1 or 2 sleeping tents with cots, foam pads and heat stoves. Rifle drop camps typically have one tent which serves as a cook/mess tent and a sleeping tent for up to four. Additional tents can be set for larger groups.
Summer and fall guided camps have all meals provided and prepared by our excellent camp cook. You’ll taste some of the finest high country cooking available. Drop camps provide their own food and cooking.
You need to bring your own toilet articles, towels, wash- cloths, sleeping bag, special medicines or pills, suntan lotion, sunglasses, camera and film, binoculars, rain gear and other personal items. Check out the Hunting page for a complete list of suggested personal gear you should bring with you to your hunting trip.
