Location

We are based in Craig, CO and our pack trips are taken in the nearby Routt National Forest or on area of BLM grounds, both of which are under a special use permit. We utilize four different areas (referred to as Game Management Units or GMUs) of the Routt National Forest. We are permitted to use these areas in both summer and fall. GMUs #4, #441 and #214 are located just north of Craig, Hayden and Steamboat Springs, CO. Some of the more well known areas in these GMUs are California Park, Saddle Mountain and Mount Welba. Exploring or hunting these areas puts one in excellent deer and elk country. We are also permitted in GMU #12, which is southeast of Craig, CO.

Our summer trips go into the Flattops Wilderness area near Devil's Causeway and the China Wall (8-11,000 ft.). It offers spectacular mountain scenery, alpine meadows with abundant wildflowers, a wide variety of birds and wildlife and many lakes and streams with lots of native trout. Late summer and fall hunting trips enter into the Beaver Flattops and Pagoda Basin areas of GMU #12. This is beautiful, rugged country that contains some of the best elk and mule deer herds in the state.
